When it comes to macro nutrients I believe that quite a large number of the population do not understand them. Here is a quick run through 👌

We have Carbohydrates, Protein and Fats 💪
_
Carbohydrates are our primary fuel source in the body. They are vital for optimal performance so you can imagine when you completely cut them out because they are too “fattening”, you will soon realize that your performance will drop in the gym 🤔On a side note there are no such thing as an essential carbohydrate and you can function quite well without them provided you switch over to a fat adapted state (for another post). But if optimal performance is your goal I’d wouldn’t do so 🙈

Protein are the building blocks of muscle tissue, bones, tendons and ligaments. They are a key component for every cell in the body.
Regulates metabolism and used for enzyme, hormone production and other chemicals in the body. They are also key for immune function. There are 9 Essential Amino Acids that need to be consumed via food. Finally eating sufficient will improve Satiety.

Finally fats have been given a bad wrap of the last number of years but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Fats are essential for a fully functional body especially when it comes to endocrine function and the production of hormones such as HGH and testosterone (Ramalho et al.2018).
