CARDIO AND FAT LOSS!

One question I get quite a lot is:
_
“Which cardio is better for fat loss (HIIT vs LISS)”.
_
First off For fat loss you need to be in a caloric deficit for it to incur (Freire, 2019).
_
You have two great tools at your disposal with HIIT and LISS as they both ultimately burn calories which will help in creating that calorie deficit.
_
Let’s look at the pros and cons of both 👇
_
So with High-Intensity Interval Training we have some great pros that include:
1️⃣ If you are short on time it can be a great tool.
2️⃣ Personally I find it great when times get tough during the latter sets for mental toughness.
3️⃣ Can be utilized to effectively if you are in a sport that revolves around short high intense bouts of effort.
4️⃣ Ultimately it burns calories.
_
With the Cons: it can be taxing on the body thus making it a higher risk for injury if your recovery is not on point.
_
So with Low-Intensity Steady State cardio we have also some great pros that include:
1️⃣ It is easy on the body due to the lower intensity levels.
2️⃣ Personally I find it great as it can be very easily adapted in a way of life thus making adherence to it quite high.
3️⃣ Ultimately it burns calories.
_
With the Cons: it can take quite a long time to complete (30-60+mins) which can lead to boredom.
_
Personally I would utilize both as it will keep things fresh in your workouts and both have different demands on your body’s energy systems 💪
_
This biggest thing when it comes to fat loss is adherence to the plan (low fat, low carb, keto, IF etc.) for a long period of time (Johnson et al. 2014).
_
You need to give it time 🕰
_
1️⃣Choose a diet that suits your preference✅
2️⃣Training plan that you enjoy and has a progressive overload principle to it ✅
3️⃣ Follow cardio-based activities that all you burn more calories and in turn help create a negative energy balance ✅
4️⃣ Take time across the week for recovery and manage your stress ✅
5️⃣ Don’t forget your sleep ✅
6️⃣ Adhere to it over a long period…..make it a way of life ✅
_
Hope this helps 👌

Have a good day 🔥
